Fabric-Specific Care

Long-Term Storage Tips
⚠️ Never store sarees in plastic covers for extended periods — plastic traps moisture and can cause the fabric to yellow and weaken over time.
- Wrap sarees individually in white or cream muslin cloth (not coloured fabric which may transfer dye)
- Place dried neem leaves or lavender sachets between sarees to repel silverfish and moths naturally
- Store in a wooden cupboard rather than a plastic container
- Avoid storing in direct sunlight or damp rooms
- Take the saree out and air it every 3–4 months — refold along different lines to prevent permanent crease marks
- Do not hang silk sarees — the weight of the fabric will stretch them over time
Wearing & Handling
- Avoid contact with perfume, deodorant, and hairspray — the alcohol content can stain and weaken silk fibres
- Apply perfume or body spray before draping the saree, not after
- Remove the saree carefully — avoid pulling at the pallu or zari border
- After wearing, air the saree for a few hours before storing to release any trapped moisture
